MUMBAI – Prices of all the oilseeds were steady across markets on Monday, said traders. Buying was need-based as mills had stocked up ahead of the Janmashthami festival, they said.
Prices of MUSTARD seed were steady at INR 7,500-INR 7,525 per 100 kg in Jaipur, Rajasthan, according to Marudhar Trading Agency, an agricultural commodities trader. Prices were steady as millers had stocked up the oilseed ahead of Janmashthami, traders said. Arrivals of the oilseed across the country fell to 325,000 bags from 340,000 bags the previous working day (1 bag = 100 kg), said Rajesh Patel of GGN Research.
In Kota, mustard prices were steady at INR 6,900 per 100 kg and arrivals were at 8,000 bags, same as the previous day, Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader.
SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at INR 4,400-INR 4,950 per 100 kg. Arrivals were also steady at 2,200 bags. Prices could rise in the coming days due to lower arrivals amid higher demand from millers ahead of festivals, Narendra Porwal, a local trader, said. Soybean prices in Gondal, Gujarat, were unavailable as markets were shut, said local trader Ashok Virvani.
GROUNDNUT prices were steady in Ratlam at INR 4,800-INR 6,200 per 100 kg and arrivals were at 1,100 bags, the same as the previous day, said Porwal. Arrivals will fall hereon due to lower availability, he said. However, higher availability of cheaper imported palm oil will lead to lower demand for the oilseed, traders said.
