India Jul natural gas output down 3.7% YoY at 2.96 bln standard cubic metre

MUMBAI – India produced 2.96 billion standard cubic metres of natural gas in July, down 3.7% on year, according to data released by the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell. The production in Apr-Jul was 11.7 billion standard cubic metres, down 3.1% from a year ago.
In July, India imported 2.90 billion standard cubic metres of liquefied natural gas, down over 20% on year. For Apr-Jul, the report showed India imported 11.50 billion standard cubic metres of LNG, down 12.4% from a year ago.
The imports in July amounted to $1.2 billion, down from $1.5 billion on year. In Apr-Jul, India imported LNG worth $4.8 billion, down from $5.3 billion a year ago, the report said.
In July, the country's import dependency declined to 50.1% from 54.9% a year ago, as per the report. Meanwhile, that in Apr-Jul period it fell to 49.9% from 52.4%. Consumption of natural gas in the country fell to 5.9 billion standard cubic metres from 6.7 billion standard cubic metres a year ago while that in Apr-Jul, it fell to 23.1 billion standard cubic metres from 25.1 billion standard cubic metres, the report said.
