MUMBAI – Production of crude palm oil in Malaysia rose 7.1% on month to 1.81 million tonnes in July, according to preliminary data from the Malaysian Palm Oil Board. Month-end palm oil stocks and exports also increased last month, the data showed. In July, Malaysia's palm oil exports rose nearly 4% on month to 1.3 million tonnes and total stocks increased 4% to 2.1 million tonnes, the data showed. 

 

A Reuters poll had forecast stocks in July at 2.25 million tonnes, output at 1.83 million tonnes and exports at 1.3 million tonnes. Malaysia is the world's second-largest producer of crude palm oil and India is the largest consumer of edible oils. At 1223 IST, the most-active October contract of crude palm oil was at 4,355 ringgits (INR 90,122.37) per tonne, up 2.4% from the previous close.

 

Palm oil imports, including processed oils, were at 61,039 tonnes, down nearly 13% from the previous month, according to the data.
