MUMBAI – Prices of mustard and groundnut fell in the key markets, while those of soybean rose, said traders. Groundnut prices fell due to lower demand amid the availability of cheaper palm oil, they said.
Prices of MUSTARD seed in Jaipur, Rajasthan, fell INR 25 to INR 7,475-INR 7,500 per 100 kg, according to Marudhar Trading Agency, an agricultural commodities trader. Prices fell as there was lower demand at previously increased rates, traders said. Arrivals of the oilseed across the country fell to 350,000 bags from 375,000 bags the previous day (1 bag = 100 kg), said Rajesh Patel of GGN Research.
In Kota, Rajasthan, mustard seed prices fell INR 150 to INR 6,950 per 100 kg and arrivals were at 9,000 bags, up 3,000 bags from the previous day, said Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader. Prices in Kota fell due to higher arrivals, Sameriya said.
SOYBEAN prices in Gondal, Gujarat, rose INR 100 to INR 3,800-INR 4,400 per 100 kg and arrivals were at 14,800 bags down from 19,600 bags, said Ashok Virvani, a local trader. Prices rose due to an increase in miller demand ahead of the festival season, Virvani said.
GROUNDNUT prices in Gondal, Gujarat, fell by INR 200-INR 300 to INR 4,300-INR 5,400 per 100 kg, said Virvani. Prices fell due to the availability of cheaper palm oil, which is a substitute for groundnut oil. Arrivals were at 780 bags, down from 1,350 bags the previous day. He said arrivals will fall hereon due to lesser availability.
