MUMBAI – Prices of mustard rose in key markets while prices of groundnut were mixed and those of soybean were steady, said traders. Prices of some oilseeds rose due to higher demand from millers ahead of festivals, they said.
Prices of MUSTARD seed in Jaipur, Rajasthan, rose INR 25 to INR 7,500-INR 7,525 per 100 kg, according to Marudhar Trading Agency, an agricultural commodities trader. Prices rose on higher demand from millers ahead of festivals, traders said. Arrivals of the oilseed across the country rose to 375,000 bags up from 330,000 bags the previous day (1 bag = 100 kg), said Rajesh Patel of GGN Research.
In Kota, Rajasthan, mustard seed prices rose INR 100 to INR 7,100 per 100 kg and arrivals were at 6,000 bags, down 2,000 bags from the previous day, said Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader. Prices rose because arrivals fell, he said.
SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were unchanged at INR 4,100-INR 4,900 per 100 kg. Arrivals were steady at 2,500 bags, said local trader Narendra Porwal. In Gondal, Gujarat, soybean prices were steady at INR 3,800-INR 4,300 per 100 kg and arrivals were at 19,600 bags, up from 18,800 bags the previous day, local trader Ashok Virvani said.
GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were also steady at INR 4,800-INR 6,000 per 100 kg and arrivals were at 1,350 bags, same as the previous day, said Porwal. He said arrivals will fall hereon due to lesser availability. Due to continuing import of cheaper palm oil, demand for groundnut is also likely to fall, traders said.
Prices of groundnut in Gondal, Gujarat, rose INR 400 to INR 4,500-INR 5,700 per 100 kg, said Virvani. Arrivals were at 1,350 bags, up from 600 bags the previous day. Prices rose due to the arrival of good quality crop in the market, Virvani added.
