MUMBAI – Prices of mustard seed fell Monday while those of soybean and groundnut were steady, said traders. Prices of oilseeds are likely to rise in the coming days owing to increase in demand from millers ahead of festivals, they said.

Prices of MUSTARD seed in Jaipur, Rajasthan, fell by INR 100 to INR 7,475-INR 7,500 per 100 kg, according to Marudhar Trading Agency, an agricultural commodity trader. Arrivals of the oilseed across the country rose to 365,000 bags (1 bag = 100 kg) from 300,000 bags the previous day, said Rajesh Patel of GGN Research.

SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at INR 4,100-INR 4,900 per 100 kg. Arrivals were also steady at 2,500 bags, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Argentina has increased export duties, making imports into India costlier, which could lead to a surge in demand for domestic produce, and prices could increase in the coming days, said Porwal.

GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam were also steady at INR 4,800-INR 6,000 per 100 kg, and arrivals were at 1,350 bags, same as the previous day, said Porwal. Arrivals are going to fall hereon as less crop is available, he added.
