India June tea production falls 9% on year to 133.50 mln kg, says Tea Board

MUMBAI – India's tea production fell 9% on year to 133.50 million kilograms in June, according to provisional data released by the Tea Board India. The country had produced 146.72 million kg tea in June 2024. During Jan-Jun, the total tea production was around 469.72 million kg, according to the data.
Tea production in north Indian states fell over 7% on year to 112.51 million kg in June. Assam contributed slightly over 60% of the total output from north India and West Bengal accounted for 36% of it, the data showed. West Bengal's production fell nearly 2% on year in June.
In north India, Assam produced 68.55 million kg tea in June while West Bengal's output stood at 40.61 million kg. For Jan-Jun, the total tea output in north India was at 352.80 million kg.
Tea production in south Indian states fell nearly 17% on year to 20.99 million kg in June. Karnataka produced 370,000 kg tea while Kerala produced 4.61 million kg, the data showed. Tamil Nadu's tea production fell 11% on year to 16.01 million kg. In south India, total output during the first six months of 2025 was at 116.92 million kg. End
