MUMBAI – Prices of mustard were mixed across key markets, while those of soybean and groundnut rose on Friday, said traders. Prices of groundnut and soybean rose as there was higher demand from millers due to increased consumption of edible oils ahead of festivals, they said.

Prices of MUSTARD seed in Jaipur, Rajasthan, were steady at INR 7,575-INR 7,600 per 100 kg, according to Marudhar Trading Agency, an agricultural commodity trader. Arrivals of the oilseed across the country were steady at 300,000 bags (1 bag = 100 kg), said Rajesh Patel of GGN Research.

Prices of the oilseed in Kota, Rajasthan, fell by INR 100 to INR 7,000 per 100 kg. The arrivals were steady at 3,000 bags, said Mahesh Sameriya, a local trader. "Arrivals are low as farmers were unable to reach mandis with the crops due to heavy rainfall in several parts of Rajasthan," Sameriya said.

SOYBEAN prices in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh, rose by INR 50 from the previous day to INR 4,100-INR 4,900 per 100 kg. Arrivals were down by 300 bags at 2,500 bags, said Narendra Porwal, a local trader. Argentina has increased export duties, making imports costlier, which in turn has led to a surge in demand for domestic production, pushing up prices, said Porwal.

Prices of soybean in Gondal, Gujarat, rose by INR 100 to INR 3,800-INR 4,200 per 100 kg. Arrivals were down at 6,900 bags from 7,900 bags the previous day, said Ashok Virvani, a local trader.

GROUNDNUT prices in Ratlam rose INR 50 from the previous day to INR 4,800-INR 6,000 per 100 kg, and arrivals were up by 50 bags at 1,350 bags, said Porwal. Prices of groundnut in Gondal rose INR 300 to INR 4,500-INR 5,500 per 100 kg while arrivals fell to 1,700 bags from 2,370 bags the previous day, Virvani said. Arrivals are going to fall from hereon as less crop is available, he added.
