Govt disbursed INR 3.69 tln to farmers under PM Kisan scheme since launch

NEW DELHI – The government has disbursed INR 3.69 trillion to farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme since its launch in 2019, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Ramnath Thakur said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha Tuesday. The data is as of Jul. 16, the minister added.
Under the scheme, farmers with cultivable land holdings receive INR 6,000 annually in three equal instalments through the direct benefit transfer mode. The government has recovered INR 4.16 billion from ineligible beneficiaries such as income-tax payees, public-sector undertaking employees, and those holding constitutional posts, the minister added.
