US natural gas stocks rise 23 bcf in week ended Jul 18, says EIA

MUMBAI – US natural gas inventory rose by 23 billion cubic feet in the week ended Jul. 18, according to data from the US Energy Information Administration. The inventory was nearly 6% higher than the five-year average for this time of the year, the agency said in its weekly report.
The agency pegged total gas in underground storage at 3.08 trillion cubic feet as of Jul. 18, 4.7% lower than 3.23 trillion cubic feet a year ago. The stocks are 171 billion cubic feet higher than the five-year average of 2.90 trillion cubic feet, the report said.
Total working gas remained within the five-year historical range. The east, mid-west, mountain, Pacific, and the non-salt south-central regions in the US saw a rise in inventory. On the other hand, the salt region of south-central US saw a decline in stocks, according to the report. At 1104 IST, the most-active August contract of natural gas on the New York Mercantile Exchange was at $3.10 per million British thermal units, up 0.3% from the previous close. End
