MUMBAI – Futures contracts of all spices on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange fell on Wednesday. Futures of turmeric and coriander fell due to a rise in selling pressure. Prices of jeera fell due to weak domestic and export demand.

The most active August contract of TURMERIC was down 0.6% at INR 13,186 per 100 kg due to a rise in supply pressure and subdued demand from processing units, as they are only making need-based purchases, analysts at SMC Global Securities said. Farmers have begun offloading stocks in anticipation of higher acreage this year, adding to the pressure on prices, SMC Global said. Prices are expected to remain under pressure until demand from millers and processors picks up, as they are currently operating with limited inventories, the brokerage said.

The most active August contract of JEERA fell 0.4% to INR 19,210 per 100 kg due to weak domestic and export demand following the end of the retail season, Kedia Advisory said in a note. Supply concerns from other major producers such as Syria, Turkey, and Afghanistan are not translating into robust demand for Indian jeera, as export orders remain lukewarm, Kedia Advisory said. Jeera exports during April–May 2025 fell 27% on year to 42,926 tonnes, data from the commerce ministry showed.

The most active August contract of CORIANDER was down 0.8% at INR 7,702 per 100 kg due to a rise in supply. Sellers are offloading old stocks to take advantage of the higher prices, SMC Global said. However, the fall in prices could be limited due to firm demand for the spice in spot markets, analysts said.
