India-Argentina joint working group explores deeper agricultural cooperation

NEW DELHI – India and Argentina agreed to deepen cooperation in agriculture and allied sectors during the second meeting of their joint working group Tuesday, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare said in a release Wednesday. The meeting was co-chaired by Agriculture Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi and Sergio Iraeta, Argentina's secretary of agriculture, livestock, and fisheries.
The secretaries discussed collaboration in agricultural mechanisation, genome editing, plant breeding, climate-resilient farming, pest control, and joint research. India also highlighted its progress in digital agriculture, risk mitigation, and credit access for farmers.
The discussions covered horticulture, oilseeds, pulses, carbon credits for farmers, locust control, and market access. Senior officials from India's agriculture and animal husbandry departments, the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, and the Ministry of External Affairs also participated in the meeting. End
