NEW DELHI – Futures contracts of turmeric, jeera, and coriander fell on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange Wednesday. While prices of jeera fell due to profit booking amid subdued buying interest, those of coriander were down on selling of old stocks at higher levels. Prices of turmeric declined on profit booking, analysts said.
The most-active August contract of TURMERIC fell 1.7% at INR 13,320 per 100 kilogram, weighed down by profit booking on recent gains, analysts at SMC Global Securities said. Looking ahead, market sentiment is likely to remain positive in the coming months, driven by anticipated seasonal demand starting from August, they added. Meanwhile, turmeric production is expected to be strong this year, as farmers have likely increased acreage in response to the robust price realisation seen throughout the season. This higher output may put downward pressure on prices.
The most-active August contract of JEERA dipped 1% to INR 19,420 per 100 kg, weighed down by profit booking and subdued buying interest, SMC Global said. While seasonal demand is expected to provide some support, abundant availability and rising selling pressure are likely to limit any significant upside in the near term, the brokerage said.
As per the Commerce Ministry's recent data, jeera export decreased by 15% on year in April at 19,720 tonnes in comparison to 38,000 tonnes during same time last year. Total exports during 2025-26 (Apr-Mar) are estimated at 181,320 tonnes in comparison to total export of 212,500 tonnes during FY25, SMC said.
The most-active August contract of CORIANDER slipped 0.3% to INR 7,660 per 100 kg, tracking spot markets, where prices fell as traders sold old stocks at higher price levels, analysts said. However, the medium-term outlook for coriander prices seems bearish, as persistently elevated prices may prompt sellers to offload stocks to take advantage of the higher rates, SMC Global said.
Contract | Exchange | Unit (kg) | Price (INR) | Change (INR) |
