MUMBAI – India received 9.0 millimetres of rainfall on Monday, 1% above the normal of 8.9 millimetres, according to the India Meteorological Department. Of the four homogenous regions in the country, three received below-normal rainfall while one recorded above-normal showers.
Northwest India received 12.0 millimetres of rainfall, which was 60% above normal, according to the data. Rainfall in south peninsular India was 45% below normal at 3.6 millimetres. East and northeast India received 29% below normal showers at 9.1 millimetres, the data showed. Central India received 6% below normal rainfall at 9.3 millimetres.
Of the 36 subdivisions, rainfall on Monday was 'large excess' in seven, 'excess' in two, 'normal' in four, 'deficient' in 12, and 'large deficient' in 11, data from the department showed. Since Jun. 1, the country has received 311.6 millimetres of rainfall, 9% above normal for the period, the data showed. End
