India's forex reserves fall $3.05 bln on week to $699.7 bln as of Jul 4

NEW DELHI – India's foreign exchange reserves fell below the $700-billion mark to $699.74 billion, down $3.05 billion from the previous week, as of Jul. 4, data released by the Reserve Bank of India Friday showed. The foreign exchange reserves had gone past $700 billion just the previous week.

 

The value of the RBI's gold holdings was at $84.85 billion, up just $342.00 million from the previous week. Foreign currency assets as of Jul. 4 were at $591.29 billion, down $3.54 billion.

 

Calculated in dollar terms, the RBI's foreign exchange reserves also reflect the impact of appreciation or depreciation of currencies other than the dollar, such as the euro, the pound sterling, and the yen, held by the central bank.  End
