--IMD: India Jun 1-23 rainfall at 114.8 mm, 2% above normal

 

MUMBAI – India received 9.8 millimetres of rainfall on Monday, 40% above the normal of 7.0 millimetres, according to the India Meteorological Department. All the four homogeneous regions across the country received above-normal.

 

Rainfall in northwest India was a whopping 105% above normal at 5.9 millimetres, the data showed. Rainfall in central India was 44% above normal at 11.3 millimetres. The southern peninsula received 39% above normal rainfall at 8.6 millimetres. East and northeast recorded 15.5 millimetres of rainfall, 13% above the normal of 13.8 millimetres.

 

Of the 36 subdivisions, rainfall on Monday was "large excess" in 11, "excess" in four, "normal" in 13, "deficient" in four, and "large deficient" in four, data from the department showed. Since Jun. 1, the country has received 2% above normal rainfall for the period at 114.8 millimetres, the data showed.  End
