MUMBAI – The US Department of Agriculture has revised its global oilseed production in 2025-26 (May-Apr) to 692.25 million tonnes, slightly up from 692.10 million tonnes projected last month, it said in its World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report for June.

The output of oilseeds in countries excluding the US is pegged at 563.86 million tonnes against 563.63 million tonnes seen in May. Production of oilseeds in the US in 2025-26 is forecast to drop slightly to 128.39 million tonnes from 128.47 million seen last month.

Global ending stocks of oilseeds in 2025-26 are pegged at 144.13 million tonnes, up from 143.24 million tonnes projected last month, according to the report.

Global soybean production is forecast at 426.82 million tonnes, unchanged from last month, the report showed. Estimates of soybean production in the US are also unchanged from last month at 118.12 million tonnes. Global soybean exports for 2025-26 for June are seen unchanged at 188.43 million tonnes from May.

Global soybean imports for 2025-26 are projected at 186.86 million tonnes, marginally up from the 186.82 seen last month. Global ending stocks of soybean in 2025-26 are pegged at 125.30 million tonnes, up from 124.33 million tonnes projected in May, the report showed. The estimate has been raised by 1.0 million tonnes primarily due to higher stocks for China, the report said.

Global beginning stocks for 2025-26 are pegged at 124.20 million tonnes, up from 123.18 million tonnes seen in May due to a 1.0 million tonne reduction to crushing in China in the prior marketing year, guided by the slower-than-expected reported weekly pace to date, the report said.

The US government agency sees global soybean meal output in 2025-26 at 287.73 million tonnes, up from 287.63 million tonnes seen a month ago. Soybean meal is a derivative of soybean, manufactured by crushing oilseeds, and is mainly used in producing poultry feed.

The US season-average soybean price forecast for 2025-26 is $10.25 per bushel, compared with $9.95 per bushel in 2024-25. Soybean meal price is forecast at $310 per short tonne, up $10 per short tonne. The soybean oil price is forecast at 46 cents per pound, up 1 cent from the previous year, the department said in its report.

"Another notable revision is higher palm oil production for Malaysia for 2024-25 and 2025-26 based on an expected recovery after widespread flooding impacted operations earlier in the year," the report said.

The projection for global vegetable oil production has been raised to 234.99 million tonnes from 234.55 million tonnes estimated in May.

Production of soybean meal in India in 2025-26 has been projected at 9.08 million tonnes, unchanged from the estimates in May. India is one of the largest importers of soy oil and an exporter of soybean meal.  End
