IMD forecasts extremely heavy rainfall over Konkan, Goa Friday to Sunday

MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department has forecast extremely heavy rainfall over parts of Konkan and Goa from Friday to Sunday and over central Maharashtra and Marathawada from Tuesday to Saturday. In the southern part of the country, very heavy rain is seen over Karnataka from Thursday to Sunday and some parts are likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall, the weather agency said in a release on Monday.
The weather bureau also sees heavy rainfall in parts of Arunachal Pradesh Thursday to Sunday, Assam and Meghalaya from Tuesday to Sunday, and in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till Sunday.
However, the weather bureau expects heatwave to continue over northwest India over the next four to five days. No significant change in maximum temperatures is likely over Northwest India over the next five days. The temperature will gradually fall by 2-3 degrees Celsius thereafter. No significant change in maximum temperature is likely over rest of the country, the IMD said. End
