NEW DELHI – The Centre has issued new guidelines making it mandatory for sugar mills to adhere to deadlines to file their monthly P-II returns, according to a notification issued Wednesday. The move is aimed at improving real-time data availability and accuracy through digital integration.
Sugar mills that have completed the integration of their enterprise resource planning data with the government's portal, National Single Window System, must submit their P-II returns by the 15th of every month. Mills facing technical issues or pending integration may be allowed to file by the 20th of every month, but on a case-by-case basis, the notification said.
The government warned that mills failing to meet the deadlines would not be allocated monthly sugar quotas from July. The government fixes the maximum quantity of sugar available for sale every month to support prices and to help mills clear the arrears of sugarcane farmers. End
