India April tea production rises 25% on year to 95.22 mln kg, says Tea Board

MUMBAI – India's tea production rose 25% on year to 95.22 million kilogram in April, according to provisional data released by the Tea Board India. The country had produced 76.04 million kg tea in April 2024. During Jan-Apr, total tea production was around 203.14 million kg, according to the data.
Tea production in north Indian states jumped 14.5% on year, reaching 72.99 million kg in April. Assam contributed nearly 54% of this while West Bengal accounted for over 43%, the data showed. West Bengal's production rose 73% from a year-ago peiod.
In north India, Assam produced 39.53 million kg of tea in April while West Bengal's output stood at 31.54 million kg. For the Jan-Apr period, total tea output in north India was at 133.43 million kg.
Tea production in south Indian states rose 81% on year to 22.23 million kg in April. Karnataka produced 44,000 kg of tea while Kerala produced 5.44 million kg, up 103% on year, the data showed. Tamil Nadu's tea production rose over 75% to 16.35 million kg. In South India, total output during the first four months of 2025 was at 69.71 million kg. End
