India March tea output up 2.1% on year to 65.14 mln kg, says Tea Board

MUMBAI - India's tea production rose 2.1% on year to 65.14 million kg in March, according to provisional data released by the Tea Board India. The country had produced 63.78 million kg tea in March 2024.
Tea production in north Indian states rose 5.4% on year to 49.43 million kg in March. Assam accounted for nearly 56% of the north Indian production while West Bengal accounted for 41.5%, the data showed. West Bengal's production fell nearly 15% from a year ago.
In north India, Assam produced 27.52 million kg of tea during March, while West Bengal produced 20.51 million kg, the data showed.
Tea production in south Indian states fell nearly 7% on year to 15.71 million kg in March. Karnataka produced 380,000 kg of tea in March. Kerala produced 4.32 million kg, down 5.1% on year, the data showed. Tamil Nadu's tea production fell 8% to 11.01 million kg. End
