MCX Clearing Corp says warehouses will check BIS licence for lead depositors

MUMBAI – Multi Commodity Exchange Clearing Corp. Ltd. has notified those intending to deposit primary lead at its accredited warehouses that the goods will have to bear a standard mark under a licence from the Bureau of Indian Standards.
Warehouses will check the authenticity of the document submitted by the depositor and verify the licence of the producer, the corporation said in a notice. The warehouses will check the documents over and above the existing procedure of implementation of the quality control orders.
The Ministry of Mines, in an order dated Apr. 17, notified quality control orders for various metals including primary lead. The ministry stated that the order would come into effect in six months from the date of notification. End
