NAFED buys 1.47 mln tn kharif soybean, 1.44 mln tn groundnut as of Sunday

MUMBAI – The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India has procured 1.47 million tonnes of kharif soybean as of Sunday under the price support scheme. The central procurement agency procured the soybean at the minimum support price of INR 4,892 per 100 kg, according to data on its website.
NAFED started procurement of oilseeds for the 2024-25 (Oct-Sept) kharif season in Karnataka, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.
The central procurement agency has procured 1.44 million tonnes of groundnut as on Sunday, at the minimum support price of INR 6,783 per 100 kg. The agency has procured 3,272.4 tonnes of sunflower from Karnataka as on Sunday at the minimum support price of INR 7,280 per 100 kg, according to the data.
The government is yet to decide on procurement of sesamum seed from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. The minimum support price at which the agency will buy sesamum seed is INR 9,267 per 100 kg.
NAFED has also started procurement of oilseeds grown during the 2025 (Jul-Jun) rabi season. It has procured 179,883.1 tonnes of mustard from Assam, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh. It procured the oilseed at the minimum support price of INR 5,950 per 100 kg. The government aims to procure a total of 1.5 million tonnes during the 2024-25 (Jul-Jun) rabi season.
Procurement of sunflower, another rabi oilseed, has also begun. The central procurement agency has bought 2,135.6 tonnes of the oilseed from Telangana as on Sunday. NAFED purchased the sunflower at the minimum support price of INR 7,280 per 100 kg. Rabi groundnut and safflower procurement is yet to begin, according to the agency. End
