Tea Board says India tea exports rise 18% on yr to INR 6.13 bln in January

MUMBAI – India exported tea worth INR 6.13 billion in January, up 18% on year from INR 5.19 billion in the corresponding period previous year, according to provisional data released by the Tea Board India. Exports in volume terms rose 3.2% on year to 21.68 million kilograms in January from 21.01 million kg the previous year in January.
The average unit price of tea exported from the country rose to INR 282.63 per kg in January from INR 247.42 per kg in the corresponding period last year, according to the data. Exports from north India rose 23% on year to 14.62 million kg, the data showed. Exports from south India decreased 23% on year in January to 7.06 million kg.
The average price of tea exported from north India in January was INR 304.15 per kg, up from INR 273.60 per kg in the previous year. The average price of tea exported from south India rose to INR 238.07 per kg last year from INR 213.34 per kg in the previous year, the data showed.
The total value of tea exports from north India in January was INR 4.45 billion, up from INR 3.25 billion in January 2024. The value of tea exported from south India was INR 1.68 billion in January, down from INR 1.94 billion in the corresonding period the previous year.
During Apr-Jan, India exported tea worth INR 60.77 billion up from INR 53.35 billion, according to the Tea Board data. End
