Govt procures 308,559 tonnes of tur via central nodal agencies as of Tuesday

MUMBAI – The government has procured 308,559 tonnes of tur as of Tuesday, the Department of Consumer Affairs said in a post on social media platform X. While the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation Ltd. has procured 202,895 tonnes of tur, the National Cooperative Consumers' Federation of India Ltd. has purchased 105,664 tonnes, the department said.

 

Tur is being procured in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh under the price support scheme for the 2024-25 kharif season through central nodal agencies. The legume is being purchased at the minimum support price of INR 7,550 per 100 kg.

 

The government had extended the procurement period in Karnataka by another 30 days to May 1 from Apr. 1, the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare had said in a release on Mar. 27.  End
