Volume of gold transfers in London bullion market up 13.4% on mo in Feb

MUMBAI – The volume of gold transferred in the London bullion market rose 13.4% on month in February to 20 million ounces, according to the London Bullion Market Association. The value of gold transferred rose 21.2% on month to $57.9 billion in February.
There were 7,327 transfers in February, up 31.3% on month, with the clearers settling 2,728 ounces per transfer on average, 13.6% lower than the previous month, the association said.
Similarly, the volume of silver transferred during the month increased 17.2% on month to 280.5 million ounces. The value of silver transferred rose 24.2% on month to $9 billion. The number of transfers increased 55.1% to 2,986, with the clearers settling on average 93,945 ounces per transfer, down 24.4% on month. The average gold-silver ratio increased to 89.9 in February from 89.2 in January.
The clearing statistics represent the net volume of London gold and silver transfers settled between clearing members of the London Precious Metals Clearing Ltd., the association said. Members of London Precious Metals Clearing Ltd. are HSBC, ICBC Standard Bank, JP Morgan, and UBS, it said. End
