MUMBAI – Futures contracts of coriander rose on the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange on Friday, while those of jeera fell. Future contracts of turmeric were steady. Coriander prices rose due to seasonal demand and the wedding season, while jeera prices fell due to subdued domestic demand, analysts said.
At 1612 IST, the most-active April contract of CORIANDER was up 0.2% at INR 7,872 per 100 kg, due to seasonal demand and the wedding season, according to analysts at SMC Global Securities. A weak production outlook also supported prices, the brokerage said. Total production of coriander is projected to decline 11% to 630,000 tonnes in 2025-26 (Apr-Mar). In the near term, coriander futures are likely to trade between INR 7,800 and INR 8,200.
At 1430 IST, the most-active April contract of JEERA fell 0.4% to INR 22,450 per 100 kg due to subdued domestic demand, according to SMC Global Securities. However, higher export demand could support prices, according to the brokerage.
At 1456 IST, the most-active April contract of TURMERIC was steady at INR 13,290 per 100 kg. But higher domestic as well as export demand amid reduced arrivals could support prices, SMC Global Securities said. However, a surge in arrivals due to an early harvest in Telangana could weigh on prices, the brokerage firm noted.
