Centre sells 118,000 tn Bharat chana dal and 13,495 tn chana as of Mar. 12

MUMBAI – The Centre sold 118,000 tonne chana dal and 13,495 tonnes of chana whole in retail market under the brand Bharat Dal as of Mar. 12, the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution said in a release. Under the phase-II, the Centre has allocated 300,000 tonnes of chana for sale under the brand with chana dal at INR 70 per kg and whole chana at INR 58 per kg, the release said.
Under phase-II of Bharat Dal, the distribution of pulses are ensured through 3,051 stationary outlets, 8,939 mobile vans in all states and nine major e-commerce platforms, the release said.
The government introduced the brand in July 2023 under which it sold chana dal in the retail markets at INR 60 per kg for one kg pack, and INR 55 per kg for 30 kg pack. In the phase-I, the Centre sold 1.23 million tonnes of bharat chana dal to consumers.
The Bharat Dal brand also includes sale of moong dal and masur dal. The Centre's moong stock was converted into moong Dal dhuli and moong sabut to be sold at INR 107 per kg and INR 93 per kg, respectively. Bharat Masur Dal is sold at INR 89 per kg. End
