NAFED buys 130.95 tn oilseeds as of Wed; buys 12.45 tn mustard from Assam

MUMBAI – The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd has started procuring rabi oilseeds under price support scheme 2024-25 and procured 130.95 tonnes of oilseeds as of Wednesday, of the total sanctioned quantity of 1.58 million tonnes, according to data by the central procurement agency released Thursday.
NAFED procured 12.45 tonnes of mustard in Assam as of Wednesday. The total sanctioned quantity of mustard is 1.5 million tonnes. The Centre has allowed Assam Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, and Uttar Pradesh to procure groundnut at a minimum support price of INR 5,950 per 100 kg for rabi season 2024-25. Mustard procurement has only started in Assam and in various other states it will start from March end and continue till early May.
NAFED procured 118.50 tonnes of sunflower out of the total sanctioned quantity of 1,972 tonnes from Telangana. The minimum support price for sunflower for 2024-25 is INR 7,280 per 100 kg.
Meanwhile, procurement of groundnut is yet to begin in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The centre has sanctioned the procurement of 49,263 tonnes and 30,864 tonnes in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, respectively. The minimum support price for groundnut for 2024-25 is INR 6,783 per 100 kg.
The agency will procure safflower from Karnataka at minimum support price at 5,940 per 100 kg. The Centre has sanctioned the procurement of 3,168 tonnes of safflower in Karnataka. The agency has not decided the procurement dates yet. End
