Tea Board says India tea exports rise 15.4% on yr to INR 71.11 bln in 2024

MUMBAI – India exported tea worth INR 71.11 billion in 2024, up 15.4% on year from INR 61.60 billion in the previous year, according to provisional data released by the Tea Board India. Exports in volume terms rose 9.9% on year to 254.7 million kg in in 2024 from 231.7 million kg the previous year.
The average unit price of tea exported from the country rose to INR 279.24 per kg last year from INR 265.91 per kg in 2023, according to the data. Exports from north India rose 9.8% on year to 154.81 million kg, the data showed. Exports from south India increased 10.1% on year to 99.86 million kg.
The average price of tea exported from north India in 2024 was INR 312.20 per kg, up from INR 291.13 per kg in the previous year. The average price of tea exported from south India rose to INR 228.15 per kg last year from INR 226.69 per kg in the previous year, the data showed.
The total value of tea exports from north India in 2024 was INR 48.3 billion, up from INR 41.1 billion in 2023. The value of tea exported from south India was INR 22.8 billion in 2024, up from INR 20.6 billion in the previous year. End
