Govt approves procurement of tur, masur, urad under price support scheme

MUMBAI – The government has approved the procurement of tur, masur, and urad in some states for procurement year 2024-25, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare said in a release on Thursday.
Procurement of tur has been approved in Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, and Uttar Pradesh for a maximum quantity of 1.3 million tonnes. Masur and urad can be procured to the extent of 940,000 tonnes and 135,000 tonnes respectively, the release said.
Tur procurement has started in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Telangana. As of Tuesday, 131,000 tonnes of tur had been procured in these states. Procurement of the crop in other states will start soon, according to the release. End
