NAFED tur procurement at 35,688 tn as of Sun; no progress in moong, urad buy

MUMBAI – The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India has procured nearly 35,688 tonnes of tur under the price support scheme as of Sunday, according to data provided by the federation. The procurement of moong and urad has not progressed since Feb. 11, remaining at 176,474.79 tonnes and 35.70 tonnes, respectively.

 

The federation has procured 17,749.35 tonnes of tur in Andhra Pradesh, out of the Centre-sanctioned quantity of 95,620 tonnes, the data showed. In Karnataka, of the approved quantity of 306,150 tonnes, NAFED purchased 13,690.11 tonnes. In Telangana, procurement stood at 1,931.70 tonnes out of the approved 169,140 tonnes, while the federation has procured 351.22 tonnes of tur in Maharashtra so far. Tur procurement in Gujarat stands at 1,965.15 tonnes so far, the data showed.

 

The federation will also procure tur from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh. NAFED will purchase tur at the minimum support price of INR 7,550 per 100 kg from all the states.

 

NAFED had procured 145,887.35 tonnes of moong from Rajasthan, 61% of the approved quantity of 238,988 tonnes, the data showed. Moong procurement in Karnataka stood at 26,725.15 tonnes of the total sanctioned quantity of 38,320 tonnes, according to the data.

 

Moong procurement in Telangana as of Sunday was 990.44 tonnes, against the sanctioned quantity of 4,715 tonnes. The federation has procured 63.25 tonnes of moong out of the 29,108 tonnes earmarked for procurement in Maharashtra, the data showed. The federation has bought 2,664.15 tonnes of moong in Haryana so far, while it has purchased 144.45 tonnes of the legume in Gujarat.

 

Procurement of moong is yet to begin in Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Chhattisgarh. Moong from all states is being procured at the minimum support price of INR 8,682 per 100 kg, according to the federation.

 

In the case of urad, procurement has begun only in Rajasthan so far. As of Sunday, NAFED had procured 35.70 tonnes of the 149,240 tonnes approved by the government, according to the data. The government has sanctioned the procurement of 939,720 tonnes of urad, to be bought at the minimum support price of INR 7,400 per 100 kg from all states. NAFED has not started procurement as yet in Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, and Chhattisgarh.  End
