MUMBAI – The Rajasthan government has announced a 20% increase in the bonus paid to wheat farmers over the minimum support price, according to the state Budget released Wednesday. The bonus of INR 125 per 100 kg paid in the rabi marketing season 2024-25 (Apr-Mar) will be raised to INR 150 per 100 kg in the next rabi marketing season.

During the wheat procurement for 2024-25, which started a month early in March and ended on Jun. 30, the state bought wheat from farmers at INR 2,400 per 100 kg. The minimum support price fixed by the Centre for the season was INR 2,275 per 100 kg. This step was taken by the state government to meet the procurement target amid record high prices in the open market.

For wheat procurement in 2025-26, the central government has fixed the minimum support price at INR 2,425 per 100 kg. This means farmers in Rajasthan will be paid INR 2,575 per 100 kg.

The target for wheat procurement in Rajasthan during the 2025-26 rabi marketing season has been set at 1.4 million tonnes. During the 2024-25 rabi marketing season, 1.2 million tonnes of wheat was procured in Rajasthan, up 438,000 tonnes from the preceding season.

The state government also announced that in addition to the amount of INR 6,000 from the central government under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana, the state government will provide an assistance of INR 9,000 annually to farmers, of which INR 3,000 is from the state government.  End
