India's tea exports rise 15.2% on year to INR 64.4 billion in Jan-Nov

MUMBAI – India exported tea worth INR 64.4 billion in Jan-Nov, up 15.2% on year from INR 55.9 billion in the corresponding period last year, according to provisional data released by the Tea Board India. The exports in volume terms rose 11.2% on year to 232.7 million kg in Jan-Nov from 209.3 million kg in the same period last year.
The average unit price of tea exported from the country rose to INR 276.68 per kg from INR 267.04 per kg a year ago, according to the data. Exports from north India rose 10.3% on year to 140.2 million kg, the data showed. Exports from south India increased 12.5% on year to 92.5 million kg.
The average price of tea exported from north India was INR 310.08 per kg, up from INR 292.99 per kg in the corresponding period last year. However, the average price of tea exported from south India fell slightly to INR 226.05 per kg in Jan-Nov from INR 226.91 per kg in the corresponding period last year, the data showed.
The total value of tea exports from north India in Jan-Nov was INR 43.5 billion, up from INR 37.2 billion a year ago. The value of tea exported from south India was INR 20.9 billion during the period, up from INR 18.6 billion in the same period last year. End
