NAFED procures 52.8% of Centre-approved quantity of moong as of Monday

MUMBAI – The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India procured 176,502.29 tonnes of moong as of Monday, 52.8% of the total 334,416 tonnes sanctioned by the Centre under the price support scheme, according to data provided by the federation. Tur procurement has commenced in three out of the nine states, while urad procurement has only begun in only one.

 

NAFED procured 145,887.35 tonnes of moong from Rajasthan, 61% of the approved quantity of 238,988 tonnes to be bought between Oct. 18 and Jan.1, the data showed. Moong procurement in Karnataka stood at 26,752.65 tonnes of the total 38,320-tonne purchase sanctioned for the period between Aug. 24 and Dec. 12, according to the data.

 

Moong procurement in Telangana as of Monday was 990.44 tonnes, against the sanctioned quantity of 4,715 tonnes for Aug. 30-Nov. 27, according to the data. The federation procured 63.25 tonnes of 29,108 tonnes of moong allowed for procurement in Maharashtra between Oct. 10 and Jan. 7, the data showed. The federation has bought 2,664.15 tonnes of moong in Haryana so far, while it has purchased 144.25 tonnes of moong in Gujarat.

 

Procurement of moong is yet to begin in Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Chhattisgarh. Moong from all states will be procured at the minimum support price of INR 8,682 per 100 kg, according to the federation.

 

The procurement of tur as of Monday stood at 7,816.46 tonnes, which is 0.8% of the total sanctioned quantity of 966,575 tonnes, according to the data. Tur procurement in Andhra Pradesh stood at 6,967.45 tonnes, out of the approved quantity of 95,620 tonnes. In Telangana, of the 169,140 tonnes, NAFED purchased 497.16 tonnes, while in Karnataka, procurement stood at 351.85 tonnes out of the sanctioned 306,150 tonnes, the data showed.

 

The federation will also procure tur from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat. NAFED will purchase tur at the minimum support price of INR 7,550 per 100 kg from all states.

 

In the case of urad procurement, the federation has commenced purchases only in Rajasthan. As of Monday, NAFED has procured 35.70 tonnes of the 149,240 tonnes approved by the government, according to the data. The government has sanctioned a total of 939,720 tonnes of urad for procurement, which will be bought at the minimum support price of INR 7,400 per 100 kg from all states. NAFED has not started urad procurement in Karnataka, Telangana, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, and Chhattisgarh so far.  End
