IMD sees wet spell over western Himalayan region continuing till Thursday

MUMBAI – Under the influence of a western disturbance, scattered rainfall or snowfall over the western Himalayan region is expected to continue, with the intensity and distribution increasing from Tuesday to Thursday due to the emergence of a fresh western disturbance over the area, the India Meterological Department said.
Isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, north Rajasthan, and West Uttar Pradesh from Tuesday to Thursday, the weather department said. Thunderstorms over parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh are also expected on Tuesday, the department said.
Meanwhile, isolated heavy rainfall is seen over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe till Sunday, the weather bureau said. Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is also expected over a few parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe during the weekend.
The weather bureau said dense to very dense fog is expected to continue during late nights and early mornings over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, east Rajasthan, and west Rajasthan till Sunday.
No significant change in minimum temperatures is expected over northwest India during the next two days, after which they could rise gradually by 2-3 degrees Celsius, the weather agency said. In Gujarat, a gradual rise of 2-3 degrees Celsius in minimum temperatures is likely in the next two days, after which no major change is seen.
