NAFED buys 30% of sanctioned quantity of groundnut, 26% of soybean so far

MUMBAI – The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India has procured 613,616.3 tonnes of groundnut as of Wednesday, which is 30% of the total sanctioned quantity of 2.0 million tonnes under the price support scheme, according to data provided by the federation. Total soybean procurement was at 884,134.08 tonnes, 26% of the of the sanctioned quantity of 3.4 million tonnes. 

 

NAFED procured 42,531.35 tonnes of groundnut in Uttar Pradesh at the minimum support price of INR 6,783 per 100 kg, nearly 40% of the sanctioned quantity of 107,308 tonnes. In Rajasthan, the procurement was at 23% of the sanctioned quantity of 531,828 tonnes. The agency procured 449,344.4 tonnes of groundnut from Gujarat of the sanctioned quantity of 1.3 million tonnes.  

 

Soybean procurement in Telangana was at 98% of the sanctioned quantity of 84,508 tonnes, the highest percentage among states in the country, the data showed. In Madhya Pradesh, the procurement agency bought 388,900.2 tonnes of soybean compared with the sanctioned quantity of 1.37 million tonnes. 

 

Soybean is procured at the minimum support price of INR 4,892 per 100 kg. So far, the agency has procured 51,026.7 tonnes of soybean in Rajasthan compared with the sanctioned quantity of 294,320 tonnes. The procurement in Maharashtra was 22% of the sanctioned quantity of 1.4 million tonnes. 

 

Meanwhile, the agency bought 3,278.3 tonnes of sunflower seeds at a minimum support price of INR 7,280 per 100 kg. It has so far procured 25% of 13,210 tonnes, which is the sanctioned quantity. However, the procurement of sesamum is yet to begin and the sanctioned quantity for the whole country is 31,596 tonnes.  End
