US natural gas stocks fall by 116 bcf in week ended Dec 27

MUMBAI – US natural gas stocks fell by 116 billion cubic feet in the week ended Dec. 27, according to US Energy Information Administration data. The stocks were 4.7% higher than the five-year average for this time of the year, the agency said in its weekly report.
The department pegged total gas in underground storage at 3.41 trillion cubic feet as of Dec. 27, 1.9% lower than 3.48 trillion cubic feet a year ago. The stocks were 154 billion cubic feet higher than the five-year average of 3.26 trillion cubic feet, according to the report.
The East, Mid-west, Mountain regions, and Non-Salt region of south-central of the US saw a decline in stocks, while the Pacific region saw a rise in stocks, according to the report. At 1126 IST, the most-active February contract of natural gas on the New York Mercantile Exchange was at $3.55 per million British thermal unit, up 5.8% from Friday's close. End
