US natural gas stocks fall by 93 bcf in week ended Dec 20

MUMBAI – Natural gas inventory in the US fell by 93 billion cubic feet in the week ended Dec. 20, according to data from the US Energy Information Administration. The inventory was 4.9% higher than the five-year average for this time of the year, the agency said in its weekly report.

 

The department pegged total gas in underground storage at 3.53 trillion cubic feet as of Dec. 20, 0.4% higher than 3.52 trillion cubic feet a year ago. The stocks were 166 billion cubic feet higher than the five-year average of 3.36 trillion cubic feet, according to the report.

 

The East, Mid-west, Mountain, Pacific, and Salt and Non-Salt south-central regions of the US saw a decline in stocks, according to the release. At 0950 IST, the most-active February contract of natural gas on the New York Mercantile Exchange was at $3.67 per million British thermal unit, up 8.5% from Friday's close.  End
