NAFED procures 19.4% of approved quantity of moong at MSP as of Mon

MUMBAI – The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India has procured 54,976 tonnes of moong, which is 19.4% of the Centre-approved quantity of 282,973 tonnes, as of Monday under the price support scheme, according to data released by the federation. Moong from all states will be procured at the minimum support price of INR 8,682 per 100 kg, according to the federation.
In Rajasthan, the federation has procured 32,508.38 tonnes of moong, which is 16% of the sanctioned quantity of 203,305 tonnes from Oct. 18 to Jan. 15, the data showed. In Karnataka, the procurement of moong as of Monday stood at 21,455.75 tonnes out of the total 38,320 tonnes approved by the Centre to be procured from Aug. 24 to Dec. 18.
Moong procurement in Telangana stands at 1,004.35 tonnes against 3,608 tonnes permitted for procurement from Aug. 30 to Nov. 27. On the other hand, procurement of the legume in Maharashtra stood at just 7.40 tonnes as of Monday, out of the 17,688 tonnes approved by the government. The procurement period in Maharashtra is from Oct. 10 to Jan. 7.
The federation is yet to begin procuring moong in Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, and Haryana, the data showed.
Meanwhile, the federation has started urad purchases in just one of nine states. So far, it has procured only 14.10 tonnes against the sanctioned quantity of 149,240 tonnes in Rajasthan, where the procurement period is from Oct. 18 to Jan. 15, according to the data.
Urad from all states is procured at the minimum support price of INR 7,400 per 100 kg. NAFED has to procure 430,000 tonnes of urad from Uttar Pradesh, 108,120 tonnes from Maharashtra, 50,970 tonnes from Gujarat, 29,540 tonnes from Andra Pradesh, 27,570 tonnes from Tamil Nadu, 19,760 tonnes from Karnataka, 5,050 tonnes from Telangana, and 60 tonnes from Haryana.
Procurement of tur from various states is yet to begin, the data showed. The federation will procure 395,170 tonnes of tur from Uttar Pradesh, 95,620 tonnes from Andhra Pradesh, and 495 tonnes from Haryana. The legume will be procured at its minimum support price of INR 7,550 per 100 kg.
