MUMBAI – Prices of pulses were unavailable Tuesday as most key spot markets across the country were shut for Dhanteras, traders said.

CHANA prices in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, were unavailable as the markets there were closed, local traders said. Prices of chana in Delhi were steady at INR 7,200-7,225 per 100 kg, according to the India Pulses and Grains Association.

Prices of chana are likely to rise as sellers are choosing not to sell the commodity at the current low prices, the association said in its weekly report Monday. Low stocks of chana and a delay in the rabi sowing of the seed are supporting prices, the report said.

TUR prices in Akola, Maharashtra, were unavailable as the markets in the town were shut, local traders said. Prices of tur in Latur, Maharashtra, were steady at INR 11,000-11,300 per 100 kg, according to the association.

Tur prices are also likely to rise due to shortages in the Myanmar-origin lemon variety of tur, domestic tur, and processed tur in the local market, the association said in its weekly report. Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu have issued purchase tenders for tur, which may support prices. Demand for tur is expected to continue after Diwali due to the upcoming wedding season, the association said.

MOONG prices in Kalaburagi, Karnataka, were unavailable as the markets were closed, local traders said. Prices of tur in Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh, were steady at INR 6,500-7,500, according to the association. Arrivals were steady at 250 bags (1 bag = 50 kg).

Markets in Solapur in Maharashtra, Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh, and Kota in Rajasthan were also shut Tuesday, traders said.  End
