US natural gas stocks rise 80 bcf in week ended Oct 18, says EIA

MUMBAI – Natural gas inventory in the US rose 80 billion cubic feet in the week ended Oct. 18, data from the US Energy Information Administration showed. The gas inventory was 4.6% higher than the five-year average for this time of the year, the agency said in its weekly report.
The agency pegged the total gas in underground storage at 3.78 trillion cubic feet as of Oct. 18, nearly 3% higher than 3.67 trillion cubic feet a year ago. The stocks were 106 billion cubic feet higher than this time last year and 167 billion cubic feet above the five-year average of 3.61 trillion cubic feet, according to the report.
The east, mid-west, mountain, pacific, and salt and non-salt south-central regions of the US saw a rise in stocks in the week. At 1009 IST, the most active December contract of natural gas on the New York Mercantile Exchange was at $2.52 per million British thermal units, down 0.1% from Thursday's close. End
