NAFED increases purchase limit for mustard seeds to 4,000 tn from 2,000 tn

MUMBAI – The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. has revised the upper limit for the purchase of mustard seed per buyer, per location to 4,000 tonnes from 2,000 tonnes, it said in a notice. The purchase limit has been increased for the 2023-2024 Rabi season mustard, according to the notice.
Bidders or legal entities having the necessary licences and statutory approvals for purchase can participate in the auctions and purchase the mustard the federation is selling. Bidders may contact the NAFED office for any clarification regarding quality of products, location of the warehouses, bidding process or any such query, the federation said.
NAFED is one of the central seed agencies of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare under the government of India, and is responsible for producing and distributing certified seeds of pulses, oilseeds, and cereals. It operates under the National Food Security Mission, providing certified seeds directly to farmers across the nation through the Seed Minikits Distribution Scheme.
Additionally, the federation supplies surplus certified seeds to state governments via tenders and direct orders, beyond meeting the requirements of the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. End
