Mustard, groundnut flat in key markets; soybean down

MUMBAI – Prices of mustard seed were steady in Jaipur, Rajasthan, while those of soybean fell in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, traders said. Groundnut prices were steady in Gondal, Gujarat, they added.
MUSTARD prices in Jaipur, Rajasthan, were steady at INR 6,700-6,725 per 100 kilograms. Arrivals in Rajasthan were unchanged at 165,000 bags. Arrivals all over the country increased by 25,000 bags to 325,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), according to Marudhar Trading Agency.
"Mustard prices may witness a temporary increase for a short duration in the coming week due to the festival demand for Diwali," Mahesh Sameriya, a Rajasthan-based trader, said. However, in Kota, Rajasthan, mustard prices were up by INR 50 to INR 6,550 per 100 kilograms with arrivals decreasing by 500 bags to 5,500 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), Sameriya added.
SOYBEAN prices in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, were down by INR 150 at INR 4,000-4,500 per 100 kilograms, Mukesh Mangal, a local trader said. "Huge arrivals of soybeans are weighing on its price," Shailendra Soni, another trader from Indore said. Arrivals were around 900,000-960,000 bags (1 bag = 90 kg) all over the country, he said.
However, soybean prices in Kota, Rajasthan, were steady at INR 4,600 per 100 kilograms with arrivals remaining unchanged to 60,000 bags (1 bag = 90 kilograms), Sameriya said. Some of the moisture-laden new soybean crops were priced at INR 3,200 per 100 kilograms.
GROUNDNUT prices were steady in Gondal, Gujarat, in the range of INR 5,500-8,000 per 100 kilograms, Ashok Virvani, a Gujarat-based trader said. "Arrivals of bold kernel and G20 were less today as compared to moisture-laden new groundnut crops," Jatin Patel, another trader from Saurashtra Mandi said. Festival demand is preventing the prices of groundnuts to fall further, Patel added.
