MUMBAI – Prices of chana, tur, and moong were unavailable as major spot markets in the country were closed today for Anant Chaturdashi, traders said.
CHANA prices were unavailable as markets in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, were closed, said local trader Raja Jain.
Prices of chana are expected to rise during Navratri, as retailers and wholesalers will prepare for Diwali, the India Pulses and Grains Association said in its weekly outlook. Moreover, demand for seeds for the rabi sowing season will also support prices, the association said.
Similarly, the wholesale market in Akola in Maharashtra, considered a benchmark for TUR, was closed, said local trader Ashok Gupta.
Prices of tur are likely to fall as buyers are holding back purchases in anticipation of cheaper tur imports from Africa, the association said. Currently, the demand for high-priced domestic tur dal is low due to the availability of a cheaper variety from Africa, the association said.
Prices of MOONG were unavailable as the key wholesale market in Kalaburagi in Karnataka was closed, Veerkumar Kadkol, a local trader, said. Markets in Solapur and Vidisha were also closed, traders said. End
