Rice, maize steady; major wheat markets shut

NEW DELHI – Prices of rice were steady in Bhavanipuram, Andhra Pradesh, as were those of maize in Davanagere, Karnataka, traders said. Prices of mill-quality wheat were unavailable today as markets were shut due to Raksha Bandhan. 

 

Prices of mill-quality WHEAT at Indore, Madhya Pradesh, and Kota, Rajasthan were unavailable as markets were shut. Markets will reopen on Tuesday, traders said. The Kota market is likely to reopen at 2,625-2,635 rupees per 100 kg, unchanged from Thursday, local trader Aniket Mehta said. The market was closed on Friday for annual holiday. 

 

The all-India average wholesale price of wheat was 2,798.93 rupees per 100 kg, up from 2,651.58 rupees from last year, according to the Department of Consumer Affairs.

 

Prices of sona masoori variety of RICE in Bhavanipuram in Vijayawada were steady from the previous day at 6,500 rupees per 100 kg, Ravi Shankar, a local trader, said. The all-India average wholesale price of rice was 3,981.33 rupees per 100 kg, up from 3,679.56 rupees from last year, according to the Department of Consumer Affairs. 

 

MAIZE prices in Karnataka's Davanagere were steady at 2,850-2,900 rupees per 100 kg, Shiva Kumar, a local trader said. "There were no arrivals today as farmers are observing Sawan month," he added.
