MUMBAI – Mustard prices were steady in Jaipur, Rajasthan, while those of soybean were down in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, respectively, traders said. Prices of groundnut were unavailable today as markets in Gondal, Gujarat, were closed on the day of fourth 'Shravan Sawan Somwar', they added.

MUSTARD seed prices in Jaipur were steady at 6,075-6,100 rupees per 100 kg. Arrivals in the state were down by 25,000 bags to 125,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg). Arrivals all over India were down by 50,000 bags to 225,000 bags.

Mustard seed prices in Kota, Rajasthan, were down by 70 rupees to 5,500 rupees per 100 kg with arrivals declining by 500 bags to 6,500 bags, said Mahesh Sameriya, a trader in Rajasthan. "Huge imports of edible oils every month at cheaper rates and sluggish buying by millers are currently weighing on domestic oil prices and further on domestic oilseed prices," Sameriya said. Wholesale prices of refined mustard oil were steady at 1,140 rupees per 10 ltr in Mumbai, data from The Solvent Extractors' Association of India showed.

SOYBEAN prices in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, were down 20 rupees at 4,040-4,270 rupees per 100 kg, according to Mukesh Mangal, a local trader. Imports of soyoil are estimated to have increased over 90% in July to 469,441 tn, from 245,220 tn in June, according to Sunvin Group. Improvement in prices for a short duration could be expected during August-end due to festival demand, but major improvement will only be seen after mid-November, Sandeep Sarda, another local trader from the state said. Wholesale prices of refined soyoil were steady at 950 rupees per 10 ltr in Mumbai, according to SEA.

GROUNDNUT prices in Gondal, Gujarat, were unavailable today as markets were shut due to the fourth 'Shravan Sawan Somwar', Ashok Virvani, a local trader said. Other markets, like Saurashtra and Junagadh were also closed, Amit Patel, another Gujarat trader said. Wholesale prices of refined groundnut oil were steady at 1,430 rupees per 10 ltr in Mumbai, data from the SEA showed.
