Chana steady; tur, moong prices down in most key markets

MUMBAI – Prices of chana were stable across most markets in the country today, the India Pulses and Grains Association said. Tur and moong prices were down in major markets, the association said.
Prices of CHANA in Khamgaon, Maharashtra, were steady at 6,300-6,550 rupees per 100 kg, with arrivals down by 100 bags from the previous day at 400 bags (1 bag = 100 kg), the association said. Prices at Amravati, Maharashtra, were also stable at 6,200-6,550 rupees per 100 kg, though arrivals were down by 200 bags at 500 bags (1 bag = 100 kg), the association said.
Chana prices in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, were steady at rupees at 7,050-7,100 rupees per 100 kg, local trader Kailash Kakani said. Chana prices are showing mixed trends, but due to festival demand, prices of the commodity may improve from August, he said. Prices of chana at Kalaburagi in Karnataka were stable at 7,100 rupees per 100 kg, local trader Veerkumar Kadkol said. "Chana prices have been steady for two days, which is upsetting the market participants, as chana is the most consumed pulse in Karnataka," Kaldol said.
TUR prices in the key wholesale market of Akola were down by 200 rupees at 10,000-11,390 rupees per 100 kg, with arrivals increasing by 420 bags (1 bag = 50 kg) to 800 bags. Prices at Hingaghat, Maharashtra, were steady 11,900-11,950 rupees per 100 kg, with arrivals increasing from 800 bags to 1,200 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), the association said. The price trend for tur will mostly depend on supply of the commodity from Africa, and the progress of the monsoon, the association said.
Prices of MOONG in the key wholesale market of Lalitpur in Uttar Pradesh were down by 200 rupees at 7,000-7,700 rupees per 100 kg, with arrivals falling by 500 bags to 1,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), the association said. Moong prices at Pipariya in Madhya Pradesh were stable at 7,000-8,100 rupees per 100 kg, with arrivals down by 1,000 bags at 4,000 bags (1 bag = 100 kg) from 5,000 bags, it said. Prices in Kalaburagi were down by 100 rupees at 7,700-7,750 rupees per 100 kg, Kadkol said. India's kharif moong acreage 2.5 mln ha so far vs 2.3 mln ha a year ago. End
