Chana, tur prices up on expected seasonal demand Aug

MUMBAI - Prices of chana were up across most markets in the country today owing to the seasonal rise in demand with the festival season starting early next month and limited government stocks, the India Pulses and Grains Association said. Prices of tur were also up on an anticipated rise in demand next month, while those of moong were stable across most major markets, traders said.

 

Prices of CHANA in Khamgaon, Maharashtra, were up 75 rupees at 6,300-6,550 rupees per 100 kg, the association said. Arrivals were steady at 400 bags (1 bag = 100 kg) from Tuesday, it said. Prices at Hinganghat, also in Maharashtra, rose 50 rupees to 5,300-6,520 rupees per 100 kg, as arrivals were down at 1,100 bags (1 bag = 50 kg) from 1,400 bags, the association said.

 

Chana prices in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, rose 50 rupees to 7,000-7,050 rupees per 100 kg, local trader Kailash Kakani said. Prices of chana at Kalaburagi in Karnataka were up 100 rupees at 7,100 rupees per 100 kg, local trader Veerkumar Kadkol said. Prices rose owing to the demand for chana besan, Kadkol said.

 

Prices of TUR rose as demand is anticipated to grow from late July to early August, the association said. Tur prices in the key wholesale market of Hinganghat were up 100 rupees at 10,200-11,590 rupees per 100 kg, although arrivals were higher at 1,700 bags (1 bag = 50 kg) from 1,400 bags.

 

Prices at Khamgaon rose 100 rupees to 10,400-11,400 rupees per 100 kg, though arrivals were up at 500 bags (1 bag = 100 kg) from 300 bags, the association said. Prices of tur in Kalaburagi, Karnataka, were up 100 rupees at 11,900 rupees per 100 kg, local trader Veerkumar Kadkol said.

 

Prices of MOONG in the key wholesale market of Lalitpur in Uttar Pradesh were stable at 7,500-7,900 rupees per 100 kg, though arrivals were up at 1,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg) from 700 bags, the association said. Moong prices at Pipariya in Madhya Pradesh were stable at 7,000-8,200 rupees per 100 kg, as arrivals were steady at 6,000 bags (1 bag = 100 kg), it said. Prices of moong in Kalaburagi were stable at 7,900 rupees per 100 kg, Kadkol said. End
