HAFED invites bids for sale of 171.04 tn bajra on Wed

MUMBAI – The Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation has invited bids for the sale of 171.04 tn of bajra through its e-auction platform HafedAgriXchange.org on Wednesday, it said in a notice.  

 

Informist on Friday, had exclusively reported quoting an official from the Food Corp of India that the government has allowed the food procurement agency to sell bajra by conducting auctions under its open market sales scheme in Haryana.  

 

The government last month increased the minimum support price of bajra to 2,625 rupees per 100 kg for the 2024-25 (Oct-Sep) kharif marketing season from 2,500 rupees previously. According to Agmarknet, prices of bajra in Khanina market in Haryana were 2,250 rupees per 100 kg on Friday, steady from a month ago.

 

Farmers across the country have sown bajra over 2.8 mln ha as of Monday, 44% lower than the corresponding period a year ago, according to farm ministry data.

 

The sale of bajra allocated by the Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation is 42.28 tn in Gurugram, 3.5 tn in Faridabad, 71.97 tn in Narnaul, and 53.29 tn in Rohtak, the tender said.  

 

The bidding time is from 1100-1145 IST with an extension of 15 minutes, according to the notice. The goods are offered on "as is where is basis" at these locations. The evaluation and finalisation of bids received shall be made on the basis of the highest price quoted by the bidders, the federation said.

 

"Bidders shall be required to deposit an amount of 120 rupees per quintal as EMD (earnest margin deposit) in the bank account provided by HAFED prior to bidding," according to the notice. Bidders have to bid for a minimum of 75 tn or the available quantity at a particular warehouse.  End
